All wheelchair players invited to compete as the BWPPA season continues

The 2013 continued at Event 3 as Aslam Abubaker took the Kamui 9 Ball Shootout with a win over No.1 ranked Roy Kimberley.

Kimberley maintained the top spot, but with just 2 events to go, the battle for the top spot at the end of the season and the Predator Ikon-2 cue that goes with it, could come down to the last ball of the season. The rankings are based on best 4 out of 5 events, and with the final event being event 5, only this seasons points will count, and provisionally Kimberley and Abubaker have identical records this season, with a win, a runner up and a semi final each. Tony Southern although no 2 in the rankings is a further 15 points back on this seasons points alone. Ireland’s Fred Dinsmore is also in contention if he is able to make the last 2 events.

After this event, later in the year we will be moving to our permanent home for the tour at Stoke Mandeville, you can see the latest pictures of the venue being refurbished here, although we will hopefully have an event each season in Barnsley or a Rileys venue.

OVERVIEW

The 2013 BWPPA tour will feature five events. Each event will be held in a crammed weekend of pool, which will consist of two tournaments, a main ranking event to be played over the Saturday and Sunday and a Challenge-Cup event on the Sunday, open to all players who haven’t made the second day in the Main Event.

MAIN EVENT

he main event will be used to derive all UK rankings – the number 1 player on the main event will be known as the UK number 1 wheelchair player.

The main event will start on the Saturday after the registration and players meeting at 10 30am. We will play down to the last 4 on a Saturday unless the Quarter-Final matches are unable to start before 6pm then they will be moved to played a 9.30am start on the Sunday morning. The Semi-Finals will commence on Sunday starting at 10.30am, or after the Quarter-Final matches if applicable alongside the challenge cup.

PLEASE NOTE: A random draw for the table allocation will take place just before matches start.

• Main Event will be double elimination until the Quarter-Finals unless there are under 17 entries at which point it will be the Semi-Final stage.

• All races in the winner’s side will be to 7 racks. All races in the one loss side will be 7 racks, unless entries are over 16 in which case they are reduced to 6.

• For all 10-ball events, losers’ side will be a race to 6.

• The top 4 ranked players attending will be seeded.

• Quarters or semi finals will be redrawn only if players not have met each other in the previous round.

• Winner breaks and players must lag for first break. (Tapped/Magic tables are alternate break format).

• Please note that (in 9 ball) when using the Magic Rack, the 7 & 8 balls to be positioned directly behind the 1 Ball, and 2 Ball is to be positioned at the back of the rack to avoid a soft break advantage. The tournament director will be made aware of this rule, however the sole responsibility lies with the player not breaking to ensure the rack is laid out correctly.

CHALLENGE CUP

This is an open event to all players who do not qualify for the second day’s play of the main event. The event will be single elimination. At the end of the season the top Challenge Cup ranked player will receive a prize from our sponsors. The draw for the challenge will take place at 10.30am on the Sunday.

Open to all players who did not qualify for day two of the main event, at an extra cost of £5.

ENTRANCE FEE

Entrance for each event will be £25 plus a one-off compulsory annual membership of £10 per season payable at first event attended, for players outside of the top 8 in the rankings.

Entrance for the top 8 ranked players is as follows plus £10 annual membership. Please check your ranking on www.bwppa.com/Rankings.html before the event.

1-2     £50

3-4     £40

5-6     £35
