Swedish 10-Ball - Chawki and Ouschan take the trophies in Stockholm

A home team win was celebrated in the men's event as Sweden's Jim Chawki trounced Russia's Ruslan Chinakhov 9-4 in the final in Stockholm this weekend. Chawki also despatched last year's champion, Mark Gray in the semi-final with an equally strong 9-6 scoreline, whilst Chinakhov's semi-final victory came at the expense of another Swede, Christian Fischer, to earn his chance in the final.

In the women's event Jasmin Ouschan took top honours, going throughout the tournament without loss and edging Poland's Oliwia Czuprynska 8-6. Caroline Roos was Sweden's top female player, fighting back from the one-loss side of the draw, and only finally stopped by Czuprynska in the semi-final.

Always touted to be one of the largest independent European tournaments of the year, the Swedish 10-Ball Open really does offer fantastic value for money to players making the trip to Stockholm. No other tournament in Europe this year can offer the same potential return on investment with a handsome total prize fund of €20,000 (€4,000 to the winner) and just 96 entrants in the men's event. - do the maths and you'll see what I mean.

The field features a breadth of talent from all over Europe - Britain is ably represented by the defending champion Mark Gray and 2012 semi-finalist Daryl Peach, the Netherlands have Niels Feijen and Ivo Aarts in attendance, and as you would expect, the host nation of Sweden is very well represented with local hot-shots Jim Chawki, Tom Storm, and the ever-present Marcus Chamat among the best known names.

The women's event forms part of the Women's Euro Tour - and both tournaments will have live scoring available at the official website.

Hosted again this year at the fabulously sexy looking "JoLo & Co" - their slogan "Billard Met Guldkant" which translates roughly as "Pool With A Gold Lining" - means that players can expect nothing but the best in equipment and cuisine while pursuing the "Guld".
