Event 2 Winner Luke Rollison is aided with his celebrations by friend Greg Janz.

Rollison Rolls through field and into victory lift

Luke Rollison appeared to be back in form yesterday at T9B Amateur 2x Series Event 2, Rollison took his 4th T9B title after a 7 month spell away from a trophy.

27 players made the trip through the snow to The Hurricane Room in St Albans for event 2 of this popular ranking series, of the 27 there were a few new faces (Brian Cassidy, John Illingworth and Luke Hickman) which was great as Total9ball continues to try to encourage new talents to our events. The event also saw the return of Phil Morgan, an ex tour player who at times seemed to be hitting the ball well with a borrowed cue after nearly a year away from the game.

Matches began at 10am in the beautiful newly refurbished club in Hertfordshire. The pick of the opening rounds matches was last season's Amateur Series Grand Final Winner Jonathan Vaughan v Tom Staveley. The match ended in a 7v6 win for Staveley.

Tem Dixon was the only player competing from Leicester at this event, Tem showed his class in event one reaching the Quarter Finals and the overall Final to lead the rankings but he couldn’t repeat this form yesterday as he ran into top player and one of the event favourites Richard Twomey and the improving Rattapol Sasssmann.

Dave Nelson made the long drive again from Keighley to compete, and compete he did gaining wins over local talent Mikko Tuomi, ex professional Mike Rogers, T9B Rookie Champion Sunny Garib and he ended Lionel Brown's chances too, beating him in both sides of the draw!

Larry Catapang produced some of his best play reaching the Quarter Finals for the first time in a T9B event. Along the way Larry defeated John Illingworth, Brian Cassidy and made the most of his handicap start against Dave Nelson to run out a comfortable winner.

Luke Rollison’s day began with a 7v3 win over Luke Hickman this was followed by wins against Dean Rogers, two wins against Rattapol Sassmann and Luke then squeezed passed Darren Saxby in a close match. Luke's only defeat of the event was against Rich Twomey 7v5. Rich again proved yesterday that he is a class act after reaching the Quarter Finals in his first Total9ball event in Wealdstone last weekend, was today to be his first event win? Twomey won seven matches in total at St Albans yesterday making it to the final. Rich did suffer a defeat at the hands of T9B founder Phil Wildman, Rich led 6v2 in a race to 7 but a couple of bad positional shots cost him the match 7v6.

So the final was to be contested by, in my opinion, two of the favourites for the event - Luke Rollison and Rich Twomey. It was decided that the prize money would be split between the two players and a race to three was played for the glass trophy. Luke was defeated by Twomey in an earlier match but Luke reversed this result on the shorter format Winning 3v1.

Another fantastic event and I'm glad to say the adverse weather conditions didn’t deter any players. Thanks to St Albans Hurricane Room for again supporting T9B events by playing great hosts and allowing us to use their marvelous venue.

Thanks to Dave Knight who again brought The Pro Shop to the venue and also took some quality photos. Thanks to Nicole Hansen for the smooth running of yet another event, Thanks to all the players who attended and made the event as good as it was and finally a thank you to Kamui as tournament sponsor.

Remember - buy a Kamui tip from Total9ball - get £5 off your next event entry!

The Next Total9ball event is the UK Open Championship held at Mickey Flynns in Cambridge on Saturday 6th April. This event is the first T9B event to use the winner breaks breaking system - it also offers great value as each player is guaranteed a minimum of two matches, and players at the beginning of the tournament are only two wins away from the prize money on both sides of the draw. We are also happy to announce this event will be streamed live by Lee Rigby.

The next Amateur Series event will be held on the 27th April back at St Albans.

Total9ball thanks all players for there continued support of our events.
