Jimmy White

IPT World Open 8-Ball Championships.

Better late than never, and these are worth the wait, Pro9's newest reporter Mark Mills, has come up trumps with these photos from Reno. But to be fair Internet access was the main stumbling block and had to rely on the IPT computers which were very difficult at times to get on.

Click on "Read More..." for the details.

Jimmy White

Jimmy White again struggled to show that he has what it takes on the American Pool tables although to be fair he said himself that his break is the main reason which he mentioned to me as he lost his first game, he suggested we go to the practice tables and practice his break for an hour before his next match, but all to no avail as Jimmy struggled to get to grips with the break and the angles on the tables and was eventually disqualified in his final game for using the wrong tip on his break cue.

Francisco Bustamente

Francisco Bustamante pictured above was looking like he was going all the way undefeated playing some awesome pool and coming through his first four groups undefeated with an average of 68.57 at that stage, but in his fifth group he lost to Rodney Morris and David Alcaide, despite this he could have made it through if he had beaten Karl Boyes in his final match, he looked on course for doing just that when he lead 3-0 but a bad positional shot to the black cost him as he missed it by some margin for what would have been a 4-0 lead and because of this he went on to lose the match 8-4 which sent Corey Deuel through to the next stage and Deuel was quick into the TV arena to thank Boyes for this victory.

Allison Fisher

The ladies once again proved that they have what it takes to mix it with the guys with Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher, Karen Corr and Sarah Ellerby all making it through there first groups, but the finest performance from any lady in this tournament had to go to USA's Loree Jon Jones who run 5 racks against the man who won the first IPT event in Vegas Germanys Thorsten Hohmann, she never looked like missing and went on to record a fine 8-4 victory that put Hohmann out of the tournament at the first hurdle, Loree Jon told me afterwards that it is her best performance in a match.

The IPT also made it clear at the players meeting that they will fine any player on the spot that do not abide by the rules in the tournament arena, this means that any player either watching or playing or even out of the tournament has to wear there full IPT attire at all times and I do know that Brain Saleh and Earl Strickland were both fined for wearing short sleeved shirts. Players were also fined for just having there mobile phones turned on and there were also players disqualified from the tournament for using the wrong tips on there cues as Tom Storm and Jimmy White found out amongst others.

Ben Davies

Karl Boyes and Mick Hill were Britains best perfomers on this occasion reaching the fifth group stage as Daryl Peach did in Las Vegas.

Charlie Williams

Scotlands Jayson Shaw had players and fans flocking to watch his matches and seemed to get the accolade from all around for his speed and accuracy, he defeated Johnny Archer in his third group but just ran out of steam with defeats to Daryl Peach, Yannick Beaufils and finally Efren Reyes, but this surely will not be Jaysons last appearence in an IPT event. Jayson even amused Earl Strickland during practice when Jayson showed him how he have played a particular shot.
