Jeremy Jones in action in Dallas, Texas.

Dechaine dethrones Jones

Jeremy Jones battled through a very talented field of players to reach the very desirable "hot-seat" - the ultimate victor with no losses on the winner's side of the draw. It wasn't an easy run, as "Double J" had a few hill-hill matches on the way, including an 8:7 victory over Jonathan Pinnegar in the very first round, and another slim 8:7 victory in the late stages of the tournament over Mike Dechaine - a very talented young player from Delray Beach, Florida.

Dechaine, the 2009 winner of the World Summit of Pool in Las Vegas, apparently didn't like being in the one-loss side of the draw, because no sooner had he beaten Jeremy Sossei 8:4 and then Canada's Jason Klatt 10:8, he returned to avenge his previous loss, with a 12:10 victory over Jones in the Grand Final - taking the title Ultimate 10 Ball Champion 2011.

UK's Appleton is sole surviving European hope in Texas!

After 3 days of grueling action in Dallas, whittling down the field of players, which has seen such pool luminaries as Souquet, Strickland, Archer, Feijen, Hohmann, Pagulayan, Hundal, and Owen - all eliminated, the Ultimate 10 Ball Championships reaches it's ultimate day of action as only four men remain without loss, and eight on the one-loss-side.

The men's semi-finalist matches on the winner's side have been determined as Mike Dechaine v. Jeremy Jones, and Darren Appleton v. Jason Klatt.

Still alive in the one-loss-side of the draw are the match-ups between, Charlie Williams v. Jesse Engel, Jonathan Pinegar v. Brian Brekke, Jeremy Sossei v. Dennis Hatch, and Rodney Morris v. Oscar Dominguez.

In the women's event, Europe's players are fairing much better, with 50% of the remaining field hailing from this side of "the pond" - most notably, the UK's Alison Fisher, who will today meet Angel Paglia in the final of the women's winners bracket. Plus, on the one-loss-side there are semi-final matches for Ireland's Kelly Fisher v. Monica Webb, and Norway's Line Kjoersvik v. Vivian Villarreal.

The action resumes today at 2pm with the players fighting for a lion's share of the $50,000 guaranteed added prize fund - a figure that is set to rise year-on-year for the first five years of this event.

Underway... And looking like something special!

The opening matches of the Ultimate 10 Ball Championships are underway in Dallas, Texas and the whole operation appears to be running very smoothly indeed. Each one of the 23 tables has it's own referee in attendance, and the organisers have made two independent live streaming videos (with commentary) available - totally free, along with individual table live scoring too.

Absolutely all of the best American players are in attendance, both male and female, and a select group of Europe's finest too, including Ralf Souquet, Raj Hundal, Thorsten Hohmann, and Niels Feijen, all competing for a share of the increased cash on offer which features a $50,000 guaranteed added prize fund.

This is the second event of its kind promoted by Badi Nazhat - the inaugural Ultimate 10-Ball Championships were held in Aruba, with pool superstar Shane Van Boening narrowly beating Mexico's Ignacio Chavez 12:10 in the final.
