Milliken is investing £0.5m in latest technology
Billiard cloth manufacturer Milliken has announced it is to continue its investment programme in 2011, when £500,000 is being spent to ensure it maintains its reputation for unrivalled quality.
Despite challenging market conditions, Milliken’s export drive has paid dividends in the past 12 months with increased demand for its pool and snooker range.
“We are investing at both sites in Gloucestershire to improve operating efficiency and maintain the high quality for which Milliken is known,” says marketing director Duncan Kettell (pictured).
New technology will give the company an added edge in its core activities, including weaving & dyeing, and a number of extra jobs have been created in recent months.

Milliken had already stepped up output as demand in the Far East surpassed expectation. in 2010. “In Asia, China is leading a renewed interest in snooker while, nearer home, World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn is having an impact with fresh formats and televised tournaments that are attracting new sponsors,” said Duncan.
“Our role in developing high quality cloth is playing a big part by improving the skills of players at all levels, with talented youngsters coming forward in increasing numbers to challenge for honours.
“It is great for the future of the game and very good news for us as we invest to maintain our position as the world’s leading billiard cloth manufacturer.”
