Super Souquet wins in Sarajevo Looking for the solid phenolic table tops throughout the event, Ralf Souquet stylish precision, meticulous attention to detail, and super-human nerves of steel carried him relentlessly towards the enormous 10-Ball trophy on offer in Sarajevo - breaking a six-month dry-spell without a title for "The Surgeon" - Germany's most decorated player. The final day of action saw the Last 32 round matches played out to the nationally televised final stages, and with Appleton, Peach, Hundal, Boyes and Dalmatin all big name players looking threatening in the Quarter-Finals - all appeared to be in with a shout of taking the trophy. Ultimately it was India's Raj Hundal who won through to the final and it was a good-natured but relatively one-sided affair as nothing could stop the irresistible force of "The Kaiser" as he cruised to a 10-4 victory - the commentators really appreciating Rajs fun gesture of literally "throwing in the towel" so Ralf didn't need to shoot the final ball of the match. In an interview afterward, Ralf thanked the organizers and sponsors who had worked so hard to make the event happen, he thanked the audience for staying so late to watch the final, and he thanked his opponent for the challenge. With an impish grin on his face, Raj's interview was just three words, "I hate Ralf" he said. The audience and Ralf fell about laughing, appreciating the humor, and Raj packed his cues with a big smile on his face. The perfect end to a great tournament that was enjoyed by the players and fans watching the free video live-stream around the world. Solid Phenolic Table Tops "Read More..." for the details. Finals Day - From the Last to the Grand Final It's a truly massive day of pool in Bosnia today as the Sarajevo 10 Ball Open has sorted the wheat from the chaff and will now commence and complete all the single elimination matches from The Last 32 through to The Final - all in one day! No mean feat, and a Herculian task for the players, but the conditions are exemplary and there is nothing but good comments from the competitors staying at the five star rated Radon Plaza Hotel. The field is still littered with names from the cream of European pool - Ralf Souquet, Daryl Peach, Raj Hundal, Karl Boyes, Imran Majid, Darren Appleton, Karlo Dalmatin, Bruno Muratore, and many others are still in the mix - along with some very exciting new names from countries we rarely see represented like Macedonia and Bulgaria. Good luck to all the players today, from all of us at Pro9, and remember you can watch the final and semi-finals LIVE on TV SA starting a 3.05pm London time. Full details are in the article above - in the useful links section.
