Milliken looks outward with its new website

The international nature of its business is emphasised in a new website from the UK billiard cloth manufacturer Milliken, whose Woollen Speciality Products business is based in Gloucestershire.

It has been making premium-quality billiard cloth since 1890 and the new website (www.milliken-wsp.co.uk) colourfully details the range of worsted pool, Russian pyramid, snooker and tennis cloth now being sold worldwide.

For the high-end American pool and Russian pyramid markets, Milliken SuperPro is supplied in 12 colours with a special brand, DBU SuperPro, made exclusively for the German pool leagues and official tournaments.

The snooker range has been developed around the Strachan brand headed by No 10 Championship, which is specified for the World Snooker Championships and all World Snooker’s professional tournaments.

The range includes Strachan 6811 Tournament, a high-quality cloth sold worldwide, and its stable-mate 6811 New Club. This mid-range cloth offers players a shorter, dense nap which produces a fast and controllable playing surface.

The Strachan brand is also prominent in the English pool market. Like its snooker equivalent, this cloth is made from 100 per cent pure new wool, with various grades for league, home or commercial use in up to16 colours.

The new website includes areas around the world where Milliken is seeking additional distributors and pages updated on a rolling basis focussing on news and developments.

It also highlights some less well-known facts. For instance, that the yellow cloth used by tennis ball manufacturers at many of the world’s leading tennis tournaments also starts life in Milliken’s Stroud factory.

And the company is the only cloth manufacturer in the UK to offer high-definition, digital imaging on premium grade cloth. Called ArtScape, this product offers brand managers and club owners pin-sharp images from a CD.

The billiard cloth business is part of Milliken & Company, one of the largest privately-owned textile and chemical manufacturers in the world. Founded in 1865, it has factories in Belgium, France, Denmark and Japan.
