Scott Gillespie - Cyclop Scottish 9 Ball Tour Grand Final Winner
The Grand Final of the first Cyclop Scottish 9 Ball tour was played at the Ball Room Pool and sports bar in Edinburgh on Saturday 27th October. The standard of the event throughout the day was first class. The event attracted some of the top players in Scottish Pool.
The final was played out by Scott Gillespie and Pat Holtz with Darren Murray and Vincent Bimendi both putting up good displays in the semi finals. In the end Scott proved just too strong for Pat on the day and added to all his recent wins in English Pool.
The winners in Year 1 were as follows
Event 1 Scott Gillespie
Event 2 Ryan Davie
Event 3 Ross Muir
Event 4 Pat Holtz
Event 5 Ryan Davie
Grand Final Winner Scott Gillespie
The tour has proven to be extremely popular with the numbers already confirmed for next season looking very strong, now that the Grand Final is over we are now accepting new players to take part for next year so please get in touch with us through the Cyclop Scottish Facebook page. Or add Colin Mckechnie or Vincent Bimnedi on Facebook.
Thanks to the generous guys at GB9 as part of his win Scott will look to take part in GB9 prize kindly donated by the GB9 tour. Pat also picked up an event invite for his runner up position. Great gesture by the team at GB9
Huge thanks to Kelly Fisher and Val Finnie who have been unbelievable in helping get the tour off the ground with Sponsorship through Cyclop. Everyone in the tour really appreciates everything they have done.

MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE 2018 TALLINN
Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League 2018 (BPL) fourth and final qualification stage was held in the Estonian capital Tallinn. The name of the game was eight ball. The host for the event was Hill Hill Pool Club. The winners of the third stage were Denis Grabe (EST), Ekaterina Polovinchuk (UKR) and Petteri Karapuu (FIN).
Grabe back on track
As always when Grabe participates in the BPL then he is one of the favourites to win it, and this time there was no exception. The fact is one from one, i.e. one stage participated and one win. Grabe showed his A game right from the start and never really was challenged. In the final he faces another Estonian Mark Mägi who was looking for his second stage win in the row. However, Grabe crushed his intentions with a solid 7:3 win. Third places were Kait Hinn (EST) and Vladislav Shopik (BLR).
As it often is in Estonia the Estonians dominated the event. There were once again six Estonians in the top eight.

Fred Dinsmore - Ireland
Dinsmore is the British 10-ball Champion
Once again Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley played host to the Tiger Cues Warrington British Wheelchair 10-ball Championship. Now in it's eighth year, for the first time in BWPPA history this event was the penultimate of the season. At this stage of the season, it is always interesting as players begin to jostle for position in the end of season rankings.
In the early stages there were no real surprises. As the tournament progressed however there was some outstanding performances. "Hot Wheels" Frankie Gillen played some terrific pool to win two hill-hill matches back to back. The first a 6-5 win over Gary Swift and, in what could be considered as the shock of the tournament a 6-5 win over Tony Southern.

Mark Gray - 2018 GB 9 Ball Tour - UK Open - Main Event Winner
Mark Gray Wins Massive UK Open Tournament Prize
The penultimate GB9 event of 2018 was upon us, and some of the finest pool players in the UK and Europe made their way to Telford for the UK Open. With Mosconi Cup ranking points up for grabs, as well as a guaranteed £10,000 prize fund, everything was to play for.
Early shocks were in abundance, with the open draw format meaning some big hitters battling it out early on. Benji Buckley edged out Tim De Ruyter, over from the Netherlands for his first GB9 event, with a tense 9-8 result. Wojciech Szewczyk brought his unique brand of cool and calm to dispatch Yorkshire legend Darren Appleton. Appleton wasn't at the top of his game after a difficult schedule over the last 12 months, but Szewczyk was ruthless in his performance. Northern Masters Challenge 2 winner Stephen Slater also showed his bottle dispatching debutant Ali Asgar Merchant in a final rack decider and James Jack, fresh from some recent high profile English 8-ball wins, took the biggest scalp in his 9 ball career with victory over Dave Nelson.

Shane van Boening (USA), the first US player ever to win a Euro-Tour event

Van Boening conquers Europe
After an enormously thrilling final match from both players at the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2018, Shane van Boening (USA) defeated Eklent Kaci (ALB) with a heartbreaking 9:8.
The match was a hell of a thriller. Kaci started out furiously and won the first 5 consecutive racks. Van Boening was a bit unlucky and Kaci capitalised from all mistakes without any merci. Somehow van Boening managed to turn the tide in the match. He got to 1:6 and then got some momentum. He took three racks in a row before he allowed Kaci another rack in his account. When the score was 4:7 from van Boening's point of view, he again shifted into overdrive and got to 7:7. At that time, he went for his timeout. He came back and the Albanian got to the hill first, winning rack 15 to make the score 8:7 for Kaci. Then van Boening broke and ran rack 16 to make the match a hill-hill affair. It was Kaci's break in the deciding rack 17. He executed a nearly perfect break shot and had the 1-ball and the 5-ball down with a perfect layout and an easy shot on the 2-ball. However, he pocketed the 2-ball but fell short in position for the 3-ball. Because of that, he could not cut the 3-ball in but went for a bank shot. He pocketed the 3-ball over the bank and put the cue ball behind the 7-ball. The 4-ball was completely hidden. What a drama for Kaci. He went for his jump stick and tried to jump the 4-ball in but missed it. Van Boening got to the table and cleared all balls remaining, winning the final match of the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2018 by a whisker with 9:8 after a brilliant final.
"I always believe in myself", said van Boening after the final match when asked about the situation when he was trailing 0:5 and 1:6. "I worked on my mental side and I practice a lot. I try to stay calm in those situations and it helped me a lot today". "Coming to Europe and winning the Euro-Tour as the first American really makes me proud", van Boening added.

MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE 2018 RIGA
Mgi made his corrections
Mgi was second not only on the last stage, but second in the last years Riga stage as well. Similarly, to the before mentioned stages Mgi got some serious opposition this time too. In his semi final he faced Timofey Sereda (BLR) and he managed to nearly escape when the final score was 8:7. Everything seemed to be under control in the final as well as Mgi got a comfortable 5:0 lead against Joonas Saska (EST). However, Saska did not wanted to follow Mgis plan and the comeback started which lead to 6:5 for Mgi. Regardless of Saskas serious fight back Mgi did claim the win by 8:6.
Another semi-finalist was Vilius Ebbert-Schulte from Lithuania who lost to Saska by 5:8.
After the third stage the mens overall ranking is very intriguing as the top eight is within eight points with Mark Mgi first, Joonas Saska second and Pijus Labutis third.
