Feijen claims maiden French Open

Niels Feijen powered through to win the 4th edition of the annual French Open by Predator last night at Replay Club. The Dutchman strung together seven victories over the course of two days to take the title, prevailing 11-9 over Stephan Cohen in an exciting final.

It was not all plain sailing for The Terminator in Paris, with several of his matchups decided by just one or two racks, but he showed great determination and mental strength to get the win each time.

Our Most Incredible Cues Yet

The 2018 Cue of the Year and Cue of the Year Enhanced are going fast! These 2018 cues include a jaw-dropping assortment of delicately produced points and inlays featuring exotic materials such as turquoise, pewter, and (on the Enhanced version) abalone.

Those of you who have drooled over our past Cue of the Year models have come to expect such ornate detailing. McDermott’s Cue of the Year program has been releasing such elaborate works of art since 2006. Each one is a challenge to produce, with fine details made of exotic materials.

They have long been a collector’s dream as well. Each Cue of the Year is limited to a small number of units. This year’s cue is limited to 100 units, while the Enhanced version is even more rare, with just 50 units produced. For any collector that wants to be the envy of his or her peers, the McDermott Cue of the Year is a must-have. Get one before they're gone.

Catch Me If You Can!
18 year-old Klenti Kaci does it again, winning the Predator Grand Finale at the World Pool Series, with a 13-11 win over Petri Makkonen.

(New York City)– Playing with an almost surreal poise and ability well beyond his years, 18 year old Klenti Kaci captured the Predador Grand Finale at the World Pool Series on Friday in New York, with a hard fought 13-11 victory over a very game Petri Makkonen.

The win by the Albanian teenager cemented his status as not only the poster boy for the future of professional pool, but as a current bona fide superstar among the elite of the sport. This was Kaci’s second win in the four event World Pool Series this year, an incredibly remarkable feat considering the sheer strength of the 69 player field that had started play on Tuesday at Steinway Billiards in Queens. One only has to pair this win with his runner up finish to Jayson Shaw in the US Open just last week in Virginia to realize that pool fans are witnessing something very special. Not since Wu Chia Ching won the World 9-ball and World 8-ball crowns at the age of 16 back in 2004 has the sport had a true prodigy in their midst.

Throughout the four day event, Kaci displayed all the tools that are normally reserved for the greats of the game with years of battle hardened experience under their belt. He pots balls as good as anyone, his stroke is smooth and steady, he seems to eat pressure for lunch, and he has that most important intangible that few players ever master: he has a nose for the finish line and the winner’s circle.

All of these traits were on full display once again in Friday’s semi-final and final. In the semi-final Kaci squared off against talented Taiwanese Wu Kun Lin. The 23 year old Wu had been showcasing his formidable skills throughout the week in New York and this matchup with the Albanian promised a terrific showdown of pool’s young guns. Wu’s silky smooth stroke and low key demeanor would keep the match close throughout. But Kaci limited his errors and took control when the opportunities arose. The match was close throughout but Kaci was always one or two steps ahead and grabbed a finals spot, 11-8.

9-ball fever in Paris for French Open weekend

The 4th edition of the French Open by Predator gets underway this Saturday in Paris, France, following several days of qualifying rounds. Over 100 players have registered to do battle at the Replay Billard club, but only one can emerge to claim the title of 2017 French Open champion and the winner’s cheque of 2000€.

As ever, this 9-ball event is to be streamed live and for free by tournament organisers Ebilliard.tv. You can follow selected matches from the TV table through to the final on Sunday. In addition to the main event, a special mixed doubles charity match is organised for Friday evening, presented by Kamui Brand.

2017 French Open by Predator preview

A strong international field is ready to compete for the big prize, including Marc Bijsterbosch, a two-time runner-up at this event in 2015 and 2016. Since narrowly missing out on the French Open crown to Imran Majid last year, Bijsterbosch has won his first European Championship in the men’s division, taking down the 10-ball title in March 2017. He also added a silver medal in 8-ball at the same championships and will be among the main contenders this weekend.

Shaw and Alcaide complete defending champion’s line-up

WITH JAYSON SHAW and DAVID ALCAIDE taking the final two wildcard spots on Team Europe, the sides are now set for the 24th annual partypoker Mosconi Cup which takes place at the Mandalay Bay Resort from 4-7 December.

With Ralf Souquet, Josh Filler and then Nick van den Berg qualifying for the team via the ranking system, it was left to Euro skipper Marcus Chamat to pick the final two players to make the team.

Jayson Shaw, a superb winner at the recent US Open and flying high in the World Rankings, was an obvious choice as leader of the contending pack. Then, after much thought, Chamat went for Spanish veteran David Alcaide, who has enjoyed an outstanding 24 months including multiple Euro Tour wins as well as victory at the 2017 World Pool Masters.

Commented Chamat; “It was a very hard decision to make and is testament to the fact that there are so many great players in Europe.

Predators Galore In Final Four
Kaci, Wu, Makkonen and Orcollo make up stellar semi-final at the Predator Grand Finale of the World Pool Series in New York.

Article - Ted Lerner - WPS Media Officer
Photography - ©JP Parmentier/WPS

(New York City)– The fourth leg of the World Pool Series, the Predator Grand Finale, has come down to the final four, and it’ll be two Europeans and two Asians contesting what has quickly become one of professional pool’s sternest tests.

In the first semi-final, which will break off at 12noon EST(-4 GMT), 18year old Albanian sensation Klenti Kaci will lock horns with Taiwanese sharp shooter Wu Ku Lin. In the second semi-final which begins at 3pm, Finland’s Petri Makkonen will do battle with Filipino veteran and former World 8-ball champion, Dennis Orcollo.

All eyes seem to be squarely upon the talk and good looking Kaci, as his game and temperament seem impervious to any outside pressure and distractions. Since he shocked the pool world by winning the second leg of the World Pool Series, the Aramith Masters , back in April, the high school student has been riding a wave of confidence and hasn’t stopped playing in various spots around the world. Last week in Virginia, he proved once and for all that he was no flash in the pan by making it all the way to the finals of the prestigious US Open, where he lost to Scotland’s Jayson Shaw.

Van den Berg and Filler complete automatic picks

NICK VAN DEN BERG and JOSHUA FILLER put in some sterling work at the recent US Open to gather up enough ranking points to clinch the second and third automatic spots on Team Europe. They will now join Ralf Souquet in Las Vegas this December as the Europeans attempt to once again defend the partypoker Mosconi Cup.

For van den Berg, 37, it will his eighth Mosconi Cup and 15 years since he made his debut in the historic winning side of 2002. With 40 Mosconi Cup matches played, the Dutchman brings plenty of experience to the team, and having tasted defeat just once in his seven previous Cups, he will bring a winning mentality.

Filler, the 20 year-old from Boenen, Germany will become the youngest player ever to compete in the Mosconi Cup. With a big win at the China Open in June, it set Filler nicely and he never subsequently relinquished a top three spot. He also won the Benelux Open in September and a 9th place finish in Virginia was enough to carry him to Vegas.

Shaw goes all the way at 42nd US Open

Jayson Shaw (SCO) just won the 42nd US Open title in a very one-sided match over Albanian newcomer Eklent Kaci with 13:4 in the final match.

An undefeated Champion came out strong of the 42nd US Open in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. Jayson Shaw demonstrated high class pool on a stellar level throughout the whole tournament and with his performance gained many news fans and respect from his opponents. His first heavy test was the third round match against Ko Pin Yi (TPE). After two relatively easy victories, Shaw was now confronted with an exceptional player and 2015 World Champion in 8-ball and 9-ball from Taiwan. That match went all the way and Shaw managed to defeat Ko by a whisker with 11:10. Another clear victory over another former World Champion, Yukio Akagaiyama (JPN) followed with 11:3. The next test was against American Billy Thorpe (USA). Again, Shaw had the better nerves and got control in the match, winning it 11:8. After Thorpe, another Ko from Taiwan got in the ring against Shaw. This time it was Ko Ping Chung. Shaw again demonstrated his skills on the table and defeated Ko Ping Chung 11:8. That took him to the final match on the winner’s side where he met Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP).
