1-3 December 2011

No chance for Italian Top player

Thursday, 01 December 2011: Serge Das (BEL) overpowered Bruno Muratore (ITA) and won with 9:6.

The match started out very one-sided. Muratore seemed not to get a foot on the floor while Das was playing very well. It took 8 racks for Muratore to begin playing a bit better. At that time, the score was already 6:1 in favour of the Belgian Champion. Though Muratore tried his best, it was already too late for that match. The best he could do was tightening the match to 6:7. Then Das showed no mercy for Muratore and took the next two racks, winning the match 9:6.

"Read More..." for the details.

Other notable results include Oliver Ortmann (GER) defeating Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) clearly with 9:4.

Kind of a surprise was Bahram Lotfy (DEN) winning by a hair’s breadth with 9:8 over current Euro-Tour ranked nr. 3 player, Jayson Shaw (SCO).

Fabrizio Burato (ITA) managed to win with 9:8 over Karlo Dalmatin (CRO).

This concludes today’s coverage of the event. The Dynamic Treviso Open will commence tomorrow morning at 09:00 local time.

Reimering victorious over Albin Ouschan

Souquet on his way home!

Thursday, 01 December 2011: In a close encounter, Christian Reimering (GER) defeated Albin Ouschan (AUT) with 9:7. Reimering seemed to be the more focussed player. Ouschan played negligent at times. In the 14th rack, Reimering was leading 8:5 and he scratched on his break shot. Ouschan had an open table but he did not manage to clear it. He missed a makeable 4-ball but whenever Reimering got back to the table he had a bad position. With this “strategy”, Ouschan managed to tighten the score to 7:8 with Reimering to break. This time, the break worked for the German and he ran out, winning the match with 9:7. “I think it was a chequered match with a lot of ups and downs” commented Reimering afterwards. “In the beginning we both played quite steady but then Albin lost it a bit. He seemed to be standing in his own way. He also seemed to be playing a bit careless at times. This psyches the opponent up and it destroys one’s own game”. When asked whether this could be a question of age or experience, Reimering replied: “Yes definitely! I was also not always the calmest player. I had my stormy times and still have them. Pool is a sport where you are very often put before great challenges and it can be hard at times to stay focused and control yourself.”

The most unexpected result happened in the first loser’s round. Unheralded Juan Carlos Exposito (ESP) ousted Ralf Souquet (GER) and eliminated him from the tournament after only two matches. Souquet, who looked like the sure Tour winner 2011, now has to wait and see how the tournament unfolds and who wins in order to see whether he will still be the Nr. 1 ranked player after Saturday.

Other notable results from the winner’s side include Manuel Ederer (GER) creaming World 10-Ball Champion Huidji See (NED) with 9:2. Andreas Gerwen (SWE) sent Mark Gray (GBR) to the one-loss side with 9:8. The same result was good for Chris Melling (GBR) who in turn made Jim Chawki (SWE) join Gray to the go to the wrong side of the field.

In the second winner’s round, Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) won over Jonni Fulcher (GBR) by the skin of his teeth with 9:8. Local hero Fabio Petroni (ITA) smashed Babken Melkonyan (ARM) with 9:5 and marched on to the next winner’s round.

Souquet sent to loser's side while Petroni and Chamat advance

Dynamic Treviso Open Euro-Tour started with some upsets and close matches

Thursday, 01 December 2011: Probably the biggest surprise in the early rounds of the Dynamic Treviso Open is the fact that Johnny Fulcher (GBR) defeated newly crowned Hall of Famer Ralf Souquet (GER) with 9:5 and sent Souquet to the one-loss side of the tournament.

Local player David Corrieri had to give in to Sweden’s Marcus Chamat with 8:9. Chamat was down most of the time during the match, and when the score was 4:2, Corrieri even managed to get another point by forcing Chamat to play three consecutive fouls. But “Napoleon” knows how to fight back. He played up to his full strength and tied the match at hill-hill, 8:8. Then, Chamat executed a break shot that was close to perfect. The 1-ball went into the side pocket, the 2-ball went also down and Chamat was on perfect position for the 3-ball with no problems left on the table. He played as solid as a rock and won the match with 9:8 over Corrieri.

Mario He (AUT) won with a margin of 9:8 over Ivar Saris (NED). The Dutchman was already leading 6 racks to 2 when He shifted into overdrive and got some momentum. Though nobody expected it, He was able to demonstrate his fine cueing skills and won deservedly in the end with 9:8. Saris let him off the hook in the middle of the match and He accepted the gift and advanced on the winner’s side.

Further notable results include Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) winning 9:8 over his fellow countryman Maxim Dudanets. The result was by far closer than expected.

Definitely unexpected was the punishing that Denis Grabe (EST) received from Fabio Petroni (ITA). The Italian played close to perfect and Grabe had no means to stop Petroni from taking rack after rack, clearly winning 9:2.

Dynamic Treviso Open ready for kick-off!

Draw has been completed

Wednesday, 30 November 2011: While IBP President David Morris has informed the participants during the player’s meeting about the tournament conditions, the draw has been automatically completed via the tournament data system. It can be viewed on the official tournament website here. Morris also mentioned several changes for next year’s Euro-Tour. Details will be published by the EPBF and the IBP before the end of this year.

Unfortunately, the news was received today that Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) had to cancel her participation in this final Euro-Tour event for the 2011 series due to health reasons. However, 160 participants from all over Europe and Sri Lanka are here to see who will take the prize money and the ranking points back home for Christmas

The Diamond Nine Dynamic Treviso Open starts Thursday morning at 09:30 local time on 20 billiard tables in the BHR Hotel in Treviso, Italy. There will be three tables in the LiveStream for the duration of the event. Due to technical reasons, there will be no ambience cam available for this tournament. For access to the LiveStream, please go to the event website or contact the IBP directly at gre.leenders@planet.nl

The event is hosted by the European Governing Body for Pool, the European Pocket Billiard Federation (EPBF) and organized by International Billiard Promotion (IBP). For further information and reference please go to the federation website www.eurotouronline.eu , follow us on twitter @EPBF_News or contact our press office.
