| EPBF German Euro Tour - Day 3 - Jungo wins Dynamic German Open |
Posted on Saturday, August 27 2011 @ 17:28:57 UTC By admin |

Dimitri Jungo - Switzerland Serge Das loses second final in a row
In a suspense-packed final match, Dimitri Jungo (SUI) won 8:5 over Serge Das (BEL) and took the title of the Dynamic German Open Euro-Tour 2011.
The start of the match was definitely not according to Das’ liking. Jungo played excellent safety shots while Das was almost always able to come up with a reasonable resafe. However, when the scoreboard showed 3:1 in favour of Jungo, Das pocketed a difficult 10-ball and scratched. Instead of getting closer to Jungo, the score was now 4:1 in favour of the Swiss player. “That was very important for me. I really thought that I would get more momentum going now”, said Jungo, “but instead I gave the lead away too carelessly.”. Not at all being frustrated, Das started an impressive comeback and was able to even tie the match at 4:4. Since both players took very long time for their shots, a shot clock was imposed on the match at that time by the tournament officials. Both players seemed to suffer from that since they started missing easy shots.
“Actually, I like to play with the shot clock since I was always a fast player”, stated Jungo, “however, when you start a match without the clock and then have to adjust to it, you start missing easy shots.” After the 4:4, Jungo took a time out. He came back and benefitted in the next two racks from Das’ mistakes, gaining a 6:4 lead over Das. Again Das tried to come back but this time he was not so successful. When Jungo was on the hill at 7:5, Das broke the balls, made two of them and left a good safety shot for Jungo. Jungo missed and Das was about to run that rack when he left the 9-ball hanging over the pocket. That was the end for him in this event. Jungo potted the remaining two balls and won the match 8:5. He is the Dynamic German Open Champion 2011.

“I have won the Kaliningrad Euro-Tour in 2000 as the youngest player ever to win a Euro-Tour event. I have made a break from 2001 to 2005 on the international circuit and I am back now. I have increased my practise level during the past months. Winning here and today means a lot to me. It shows me I am on the right way and I have the potential to compete with the best players in the game.”
EPBF EURO TOUR - Day 3 - Jungo and Das are last men standing
Serge Das - Belgium Final match of the Dynamic German Open to begin
Serge Das (BEL) defeated Manuel Ederer (GER) in the first semi-final with 8:6.
Though Das managed to get on the hill with a comfortable 7:3 lead over Ederer, the match was far from being over then.
Ederer tried to fight back and snatched rack after rack, making the score 7:6. In the 14th rack, everything looked quite promising for Ederer. He was at the table with all balls spread wide open. If he would run that rack, it would have been his own break to come up in the final rack. But Ederer missed a makeable 5-ball. He left a difficult combination shot for Das as the only alternative. Das took his time and fired the combination shot, sinking the 10-ball in the corner pocket and earning his place in the final of the Euro-Tour the second time in a row.
In the other semi-final, Dimitri Jungo (SUI) ousted Karl Boyes (GBR) with 8:5
Jungo proved to be the better safety shot player and gained an advantage over Boyes with 3:2. Boyes had the break shot and pocketed two balls when he missed an easy 1-ball. That was the ignition for the Swiss player. Jungo accepted the gift and took a 4:2 lead over Boyes. Boyes was forced several times by Jungo to play a foul. With that tactic, Jungo went on the hill 7:3. Boyes could win two more racks in a row. In the 13th rack, Jungo again forced Boyes with an excellent safety shot to commit a foul. Jungo took ball in hand and ran the rack which made him the winner with 8:5.
EPBF EURO TOUR - Day 3 - Euro-Tour down to final four
Dimitri Jungo - Switzerland Das, Ederer, Jungo and Boyes go for the title
Day three of the Dynamic German Open Euro-Tour in Brandenburg, Germany, came up with interesting matchups.
Dimitri Jungo (SUI) had a close encounter with Konstantin Stepanov (RUS) in the round of the last 16 players, defeating him 8:4. At a score of 3:3, Jungo decided to shift into overdrive. He won 4 racks in a row, being on the hill at 7:3. Stepanov, who was obviously impressed by his opponent’s performance, was only able to win one more rack before Jungo finished the match, winning 8:4. Jungo repeated that in his quarter-final match against Kevin Becker (GER). Both players went head to head until a score of 4:4. Then Jungo simply overran his German opponent, winning the match with 8:5.
Serge Das (BEL) proved to be the horror for Polish players today. He ousted Patryck Bryll in the round of the last 16 players by a margin of 8:7 and then ended Mariusz Skoneczny’s hopes in the quarter-final with 8:3.
Young German talent Manuel Ederer took out Jayson Shaw (SCO) with 8:2 and then Tony Drago (MLT) with 8:7 to secure his spot in the semi-finals.
Karl Boyes (GBR) overran Noel Bruynooghe (BEL) 8:3 and his fellow countryman Chris Melling 8:7 today. He will have to deal with Jungo in the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played
